Spectrum, The Borderplex Alliance, the City of El Paso, and El Paso County announced today plans for Spectrum to create 929 jobs in El Paso by year’s end 2023, extending the company’s presence in the city. Spectrum announced plans to expand its El Paso sales operations centre by more than 350 workers in April 2020.
New Positions for Customer Support
Over 500 new positions will be created to build the company’s Consumer Chat platform in El Paso, where workers will service over 31 million customers through live chat, assisting with problems, invoicing, and customer education.
Additional 420-plus positions would significantly increase the city’s Video Repair customer care department, where employees offer multilingual over-the-phone support for Spectrum internet packages, Spectrum TV®, repair services, and self-installation help for customers.
Cliff Hagan, the Executive Vice President, Customer Operations for Charter Communications, who operates spectrum brands and provides broadband, mobile, video, and voice services, explains that El Paso’s rich, diverse workforce talent pool, combined with our strong partnerships with The Borderplex Alliance, the City of El Paso, and El Paso County, made further expansion in El Paso extremely compelling.
He further explains that they look forward to their new Video Repair and Customer Chat workers in El Paso joining them in our ongoing commitment to providing exceptional service across our 41-state service area.
Minimum Starting Wage of $18 per hour, with a benefits package
All new positions pay at least $18 an hour, in keeping with Charter’s goal to a $20 minimum starting salary by 2022. Along with extremely competitive salaries, Spectrum offers extensive health benefits and has absorbed the whole yearly cost increase for medical, dental, and vision care for the last eight years.
Additionally, the business provides a market-leading retirement plan, including a 401(k) that matches the first 6% of employee contributions and a Retirement Accumulation Plan with an extra 3% corporate contribution, which is available to the majority of workers.
Moreover, Spectrum workers are eligible for up to $5,250 in annual education aid, in addition to free and subsidized Spectrum internet packages and other services.

These new positions complement Spectrum’s current El Paso workforce, which includes local technicians who do installation and repair work in customers’ homes and businesses, as well as network maintenance.
